ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Kirsten Marshall—a Certified Professional Coach, Resiliency Practitioner, and Facilitator with over 24 years of experience in the law enforcement and emergency management environments.

My passion lies in helping clients "be their own hero” by creating resiliency practices to achieve their goals and thrive, whether as individuals, within organizations, or in their communities.

Throughout my career I’ve held roles ranging from front-line first responder to senior management in policing, giving me a deep understanding of multifaceted challenges and perspectives. I’ve had the privilege of living and working in unique geographic locations, including the Yukon, Alberta, and British Columbia. These experiences have shaped my approach to connecting with diverse populations and tailoring solutions to meet their needs.

My practice is built on core values such as curiosity, authenticity, transparency, integrity and accountability. I specialize in collaboratively co-designing engagements with my clients that include coaching, facilitating and mentoring, always with a focus on ethics, purpose, value awareness and meaningful communication. I have a strong connection to neuroscience in my practice…people engage in certain thoughts and behaviours because they are wired that way, but that does not mean they can’t change! I’m a certified Organizational Coach, ICF-accredited, and hold multiple certifications in emergency management.

I strongly believe that resiliency is the foundation for success and well-being—and I’m dedicated to empowering my clients to discover their strengths, connect with their intuition, learn from challenges and create lasting change. Based in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, BC, I’m committed to supporting you on your path forward.

Committed to Excellence and Ethical Coaching

I am proud to be affiliated with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the gold standard in coaching. This means I adhere to a strict code of ethics, ensuring integrity, professionalism and the highest quality of service in every coaching partnership. Unlike many who may label themselves as coaches without any accountability, my commitment to these standards sets me apart.

  • WHAT IS COACHING?
Coaching is a collaborative, transparent and empowering process designed to help individuals unlock their potential and achieve their personal and professional goals. At its core, coaching focuses on growth, clarity, and progress, guiding clients to bridge the gap between where they are now and where they want to be. Unlike therapy or consulting, coaching is forward-thinking and solution-oriented, emphasizing action and accountability. A skilled coach acts as a partner in this process, providing not only guidance and expertise but also respectful, compassionate, ethical support and encouragement. Coaches pay attention to the whole person, and use their observations of emotion, speech and behaviour to assist clients in recognizing the true root of an issue. They ask powerful questions, challenge limiting beliefs, and create opportunity to help clients gain deep insights into themselves. Just as importantly, a coach helps you construct accountability systems for your commitments, keeping you oriented with your vision and moving consistently toward your objectives. They do not solve your problems, rather they work with you to discover strategies that allow you to problem solve in a way that aligns with who you want to be. The benefits of coaching ripple through every phase of your life. Whether you’re navigating a career change, striving for personal growth, or facing challenges in a high-pressure role, coaching provides a path of insight, focus, and resilience. With the right coach by your side, you’ll not only achieve your goals—you’ll transform the way you approach them.
  • WHAT IS RESILIENCY?
Resiliency is the ability to adapt, recover, and thrive in the face of challenges, setbacks, or stress. It’s about maintaining mental and emotional strength, learning from adversity, and using those experiences to grow stronger. In the context of personal development and coaching, resiliency means being equipped with the tools and mindset to handle life’s pressures effectively, stay focused on your goals, and approach obstacles as opportunities for growth. It’s a skill that enhances stability, confidence, and well-being, allowing you to live with greater purpose and balance.
  • HOW DO I KNOW IF COACHING IS RIGHT FOR ME?
The first step is willingness. If you are willing to be open and honest and have a desire to make a change, coaching can be right for you! If you are curious to know more, please book an information session. We will discuss your needs and determine if coaching with me is a good fit for your needs.
  • WHAT TIMES ARE YOU AVAILABLE?
I have regularly scheduled hours so I can bring the best me, to you. However I am aware that some emergency responders do not work conventional hours. Please feel free to discuss options with me if my normal scheduled hours are a barrier to coaching sessions.
  • HOW DO YOU DELIVER YOUR SERVICES?
I’m proud to serve the Okanagan Valley, offering both in-person and virtual services to meet your needs. For those outside the area, my virtual services are available worldwide in English, providing assistance no matter your location.
  • HOW LONG SHOULD I ENGAGE WITH A COACH?
The coaching process is personalized and co-designed with the coach. Typically, an agreement is made to focus on specific topics. Once these are addressed to the client's satisfaction, they may choose to disengage, revisit with new topics, or re-engage later as new issues arise. It is a highly individual process.
  • HOW DOES COACHING RELATE TO EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES?
Coaching mirrors the principles of emergency management, but focuses on personal, internal growth versus an external lens. Mitigation involves self awareness and identifying obstacles, while Preparedness is about developing and practicing your own strategies in advance. This way, when an issue occurs that demands a Response, you are equipped to handle it in a way that accelerates your Recovery.
  • CAN YOUR SERVICES HELP INDIVIDUALS OUTSIDE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT?
Absolutely! Resiliency-centred coaching is valuable for anyone seeking change and growth with a willing, learner-focused perspective. While my background is rooted in law enforcement and emergency management, I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals from all walks of life. Everyone can benefit from building resilience, unlocking their potential and exploring new paths.
